League Rules
(4th - 7th Grade)
Practice Sessions: are practice sessions structured to teach young players the basic fundamentals of basketball and give them an understanding of the rules and game concepts.

1 Practice and 1 Game weekly.

45 Minute Developmental Session

  • 5 Minutes – Stretching and Running
  • 10 Minutes – Basketball Fundamentals
  • 10 Minutes – Defense Fundamentals
  • 10 Minutes – Team work with Coach and Team
  • 5 Minutes – Rules and court awareness
  • 20 Minutes – Minutes Team Offense & Defensive Review

Team Games

  • Game – 2-20 minute halves each with running clock.
  • Subs every 5 minutes (equal playing time).
  • Clock only stops for subs, during time outs and the last minute of the game.
  • Man-to-Man Defense the entire Game. No “double teaming”.
  • Two time outs each game.
  • Each player gets 5 fouls before being discharged from the game.

(Competitive Division)
Practice Sessions: All teams will receive a 1hr practice sponsored by The Brook Sports. Additional practice may be requested by a facility request form. This is a 1st come 1st serve basis request pending on facility availability.

Game Rules

  • Games are running 20 minute halves or 20 minute games if it is round robin play.
  • Subs every 5 minutes with equal playing time.
  • Clock stops for subs, during time outs and the last 2 minutes of each.
  • Man to man defense in the 1st half (No Double Teaming).
  • Any Defense in the 2nd half if there is less than a 15pt. scoring margin half (Half Court Man Only if Up By 15pts)
  • Two time outs each GAME.

60 Minute Developmental Session

  • 5 Minutes – Stretching and Running
  • 15 Minutes – Basketball Fundamentals
  • 15 Minutes – Defense Fundamentals
  • 10 Minutes – Team work with Coach and Team
  • 5 Minutes – Pre-Game Warm-up

Team Games

  • 16 Minute Half
  • 5 Minute Break
  • 16 Minute Half
  • Game – 16 minutes each with running clock. Two Games each day.
  • Subs every 4 minutes (equal playing time).
  • Clock only stops for subs, during time outs and the last minute of the game.
  • Man-to-Man Defense the entire Game. No "double teaming".
  • Two time outs each game.
  • Each player gets 5 fouls before being discharged from the game.
